Yorkshire days

Hi Folks,

Just to cover some of the places we visited whilst in Yorkshire:

Appleton Roebuck, we stayed in an old Vicarage, lovely little village south of York,

York, Founded by the Romans in 71ad known as Eboracum, a walled city with a fantastic history. Good Train museum!

Saltaire, a Victorian town, home to Salts Mill, built in 1850’s, now home to many examples of David Hockney’s works.

Saltburn on Sea, a Victorian sea-side town, built with an unusual brick know as “Pease” bricks, mostly white. Lovely beaches!

Whitby on Sea.  Famous sea-side town known for Whitby “Jet”.  A black coal like rock, is actually fossilised Monkey Puzzle tree, unique to the town, lots of Jet jewellery made and sold here. Old Abbey ruins to be seen, picturesque harbour.

The weather was lovely, spring like, sunny / billowy clouds / blue skies / cold mostly. Had a great week!

Anyone who hasn’t been to Yorkshire, you should.
