Becoming a Beekeeper

26 04 2014

Hi,

I have just started as a Beekeeper, took a basic course last year and got my first Queen and Workers in what is called a “Nucleus”.  I transferred them to my brand new hive and now go every saturday to check on them at my local Bee Keepers Association’s training apiary.

They have settled in and have started to develop their capability to grow the colony, Betty the Queen is busy laying and workers are developing.  They are gathering pollen and nectar to feed the grubs as they develop from eggs.

More again soon.
